Cops and Robbers
« on: July 12, 2013, 12:44:29 AM »
I'm working on a card game called "Cops and Robbers" I have the rules for it all fleshed out and have convinced my brother (with a small amount of cash) to do some artwork for it (he's a professional animator). Just putting this out there as today I did some more in depth playtesting with the children in my class at lunch time and they really enjoyed it. Some time I'll be asking for some more playtesters to help me out with it but that will be a long way off as my bro is still working on the huge amount of cards I have asked of him to do in his spare time. Just a project I'm working on and as I'm excited about it (and had a few after work beers) decided I'd share it here as I thought people here would be interested in this sort of thing. :)

 ;D

After I get a few sets of the cards made up I'll see about giving a few out to people for proper playtesting, It'll probably cost me about $20 a set for the prototypes but the more units I buy to sell the cheaper they get (If I buy 5000 the price gets pretty cheap although I saw that the shipping for that would be about $5000+) I won't be buying 5000

Here's a couple of images for the cards. The loot one is the back for all the loot cards while the nothing is the face of a card.

Any feedback would be great.

It was so funny to see some of my class playing it because one devious character came up with some rather underhand ways of getting loot which was absolutely great!

like the art style.

What's the plan? Are you planning a kickstarter of your own in the future?

I think you meant "living," but your typo is much, much better.

There's at least one KS that's out of China right now. So, I think you can do one if you're outside of those countries.

I think you have to have someone in one of those countries willing to take the financial risks for you. I have enough barring one of the criteria to set one up which is the big bummer. I'll have to set up some sort of business as well which I have absolutely ZERO clue about. Mostly just a hobby thing at the moment. But I'll look into those things more.

Thanks for the thoughts though

Well, I think you can set up an LLC or something similar and be fine. Which I think is really easy being as it can be done on legalzoom.com

Or, y'know... just sell your idea to someone else to market and manage.

LLC?

I would guess that he is referring to a Limited Liability Corporation. I believe, if I remember correctly from my classes way back when, that in a LLC you are only liable for the amount that you put in so that if something bad happens to your company and it goes down you aren't likely to go down with it. I am no expert, however, so if you did do something like that I would recommend a good amount of research on your part before you take any steps.
