General Discussion / $6 Backers
« on: April 10, 2015, 08:58:03 PM »
During the Journeyman Kickstarter, I was financially unable to back at the Minion level due to a 10-year anniversary, our 1-year old's birthday party, a bad boat engine, and a fender bender.  Reluctantly, I kicked in a measly $6 for the updated cards and rulebook.  From what I understand, there were quite a few other people who backed at that level.  When the PM opens (in July/August, who knows) I plan to grab the Minion, Item Expansions 2 & 3, Quest Expansion 3, the sculpted lairs, and the JM Spriggan (I know, I know, there are so many more options, but I'm doing the best I can here!).  That will put me at $175 plus shipping, if my math is correct.

I was wondering, how many others in these forums are in the same $6 pledge level?  What limited you to $6?  When the PM opens, are you planning on putting more money in?  Would further Stretch Goals have any impact on how much you add?

Painting / Artisan's Painting

So... months ago, right after the KS ended, I started planning color pallets for the monster families.  I knew I didn't want to do anything that looked like the box art, just because I'm a creative sort and I dislike copying anyone else's ideas.  Some color pallets were easy, and just required a few changes to clothing colors: for example, skeletons are bone with purple cloth, while the orcs are mostly green with black cloth.  When it came to the arachnids, though, I had a bit of trouble.  I wanted to meet two criteria: they had to be dark and buggy, but also bright, like all dangerous bugs in the real world should be.  I think I've solved it.

Now, these are still very much a WIP, but here's the plan so far: the teal lines on the heads will get smaller when I pop the dark, muddy brown basecoat over them.  The ranged crawlers' poison sacks will be painted the same base color as the melee crawlers' arms, and I'll add a coat of Tamiya Clear Green to them when they're highlighted correctly.  All the eyes will be gloss black with a highlight, and I'm hoping that makes them pop enough against that dark carapace.  I chose the teal on the back of the Crawler ... necks?... because I wanted it to clearly be their "weak spot," even though those don't exist in this game.  The same goes with the Stalkers' teal parts.  Note that The Terror doesn't have much teal: no real weak spot.  The Terror will also most likely have gold accents in order to stick with a separate decision (all bosses will have gold accents, while no other monster classes will) I picked out a while back.
Either way, I'll update as more progress is made to these lil' buggers.

Suggestions / Treasure Tokens
« on: March 25, 2014, 03:42:20 PM »
Firstly: I love that they're metal!

But.... they're so tiny when compared to their punchboard counterparts!  When you have a huge bag o' treasure, it feels awesome, but when you substitute the baby metal tokens for their big brothers, the result is kinda underwhelming.  I also like how the cardboard tokens are color-coded to match the item decks, while the metal ones aren't.  Last night, I started researching ways to anodize the lil' guys, but can't find a cost-effective DIY solution.  I even thought about using Sharpie markers to make it easier, but I'm afraid it'll rub off.  And yes, I know there is a KS project going on now offering metal coins, but they're not colored.  How are you guys coping with this, or do you even care?

Painting / Conversions

So, now that some of us have some of... many things, has anyone decided to convert any minis into something else?  Personally, I've toyed with the idea of turning a couple Grubber minions into two-headed ogres, or popping an extra set of arms on one or two.  By my count, we'll be getting a few more Grubber and Crawler minions when compared to the other factions, so they seem to be ripe for the harvest.

Kickstarter Updates / Project Update #104: Myth Backers Pledge
« on: March 15, 2014, 03:42:05 PM »
"Myth Backers,

We've heard you. You are not ignored. After reading the comments this morning and speaking internally, we've decided to create a pledge level now for Myth only backers.

There are however, a couple of caveats.

First, since Myth related content will be revealed throughout the KS, we won't say exactly what is going to be revealed. That must be discovered along with the Recon backers! All we can say is that we guarantee you the price will be well worth the goals.

Second. Right now nothing Myth related is unlocked in our Recon KS yet! So we'll let you folks help decide. Do you want this level now or later?

The team is packing more Myth at the office today, so we'll be back online later tonight to chat."

Other Kickstarters (Completed) / Gothitropolis Raven Action Figures
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:34:00 PM »
I know this might not be up everyone's alley, considering that we're gathered here for a tabletop game, but I've been waiting for this one for a while now.  The Gothitropolis Ravens project kicked off this morning (Monday, July 12th) and has a 31-day kick-span.  So far, they're at about 45% of their goal on the first day.

They're expensive, I know, especially for a 6" action figure, but these Four Horsemen put out some incredibly detailed figs, and come with assorted parts for customizing your figure.  Give 'em a look!

General Discussion / Miscellaneous Questions About Physical Items
« on: May 11, 2013, 08:08:10 AM »
I'm trying to get my "shopping list" ready for the Pledge Manager, but I've got some questions that I can't seem to answer on my own, based on the pictures in the MYTH KickStarter pages and updates.  I figured my fellow Mythlanders could answer some of them, so here we go!

1) The dice add-on comes with 10 d10s and 6 d6 Fate Dice.  The image for the core set looks like it comes with 6 of each.  From the gameplay vids, I can't see a time when I'd need more than 6 d10s, but just in case, should I spring for more?  Does the Core come with 10 d10s anyway, and the KickStarter image isn't correct?
2) The card sleeves: 50x Regular size vs 50x Item size... what?  What gauge are they (how thick)?  What are the dimensions?  Do we know any of this yet?  ... I'm getting them, regardless, but I don't know what I'm getting!  :P
3) Tokens: Does the Treasure Expansion come with more treasure tokens? Do the Spriggan and Skald additions necessitate additional tokens for Status Effects, Blood counts, Threat counts, etc?  Will the tokens included in the Core be enough to cover 6 or 7 players if everyone plays a different class?
4) What are we looking at with the Elemental Boss?  Has anyone heard any predicted size specs or anything?  What differentiates it from all the other bosses?
5) The Metals: Does that add-on include just the original genders?  What about with the Skald?  Which gender will be produced, if only one?

I realize that some of these are going to remain unanswered.  I'm ok with that.  I just wanted to throw them all out there in one place so that we could discuss them as a community.
