Painting / Painting videos
« on: December 02, 2014, 12:09:44 AM »
All right, since I seem to like making videos, and I also like photography, and did I mention I like board games?

I decided to make a series of videos of the process of painting Myth, the first one is up here
01-Enter the Dragon

Obviously, this treatment will be only for the most interesting minis (think bosses, mini-bosses, etc.) as it is a challenge to do, on top of the actual painting...

Hopefully you enjoy this new series!

Comments are welcomed!

General Discussion / Zombie Soldier mini-boss
« on: June 06, 2014, 07:46:42 PM »
So, while I was painting in the basement tonight... my dog found the Soldier's mini drying up after being wash, before I prime it...

Without any further ado, I give you the Zombie Soldier mini-boss

Thanks to multiple community members over at BGG for providing templates to create the monster card!

BTW, if anybody has a spare Soldier mini (the original version, not the zombie version ;) ), PM me please ...

Rules Discussion / New gameplay videos : what did we learn?
« on: May 28, 2014, 07:51:58 PM »
I figured we should try and compile the rulings we can learn (or at least confirm some assumptions) from the new gameplay videos. I'll start with the things I've spotted and remember, and I'll edit this post to try and include what everybody else adds along the way. If you wish to add something, please write in which video it occurred, and at what time.

Lets start :

Combo : Even if a card that is part of a Combo adds enough AP to trigger the DC, you're still allowed to keep playing the rest of your Combo cards (adding AP for these as well, of course) before the DC triggers.
Video 1 - 8:00

Non-combat actions : A hero can do as many NCA he wants in a HC, as long as he has enough MPs. This includes disarming traps (unless the trap specifies you can't try more than once, of course). Also, MPs added by cards (ie. Hustle) can be used for NCA, including disarming traps.
Video 3 - 14:15

Unseen Ally : This card gives a great bonus to another hero. On top of that, if it's played as a Combo after Shadow's Reach, the Brigand stays in Shadows even if the attack was successful.
Video 3 - 17:15

Equipping items giving Vitality : When equipping/removing items that adds Vitality to your hero, your current Vitality is also affected. Meaning, if you have the Adventurer's Gear equipped (+1 Vitality), and you remove it to equip the Mantle of Fate (+3 Vitality), your current Vitality is increased by 2 (-1 +3). You can die from removing an item that granted you as much Vitality as you had left.
Video 3 - 28:20

Populating tile : You MUST resolve the populating icons in the order they are printed on the tile. On a 4x6, you must place the Hunting Pack before you roll what trap you have to face.
Video 3 - 31:00

Rules Discussion / Video rules
« on: March 31, 2014, 06:21:22 AM »
hey, I just wanted to let you know I've started publishing the videos about Myth I've been shooting. They're rules videos, not gameplay, but there will be some gameplay in the next ones to show the rules better.
Hopefully you enjoy them, and please keep in mind English is my second language...

Rules Discussion / Monster classification VS monster-type VS type
« on: March 11, 2014, 02:43:25 PM »
So on monster cards, there are classifications (instinct, intelligent, undead) and types (tribal, etc.).

Those 2 terms aren't defined in the Glossary, but there is Monster-Type in the Glossary, defined as : "A family of enemies that is the same classification. Minions and captains fall into this category."

So, monster-type seems to be the same as classification, while the type of monsters is something different. The type isn't really used thus far, with the exception of SF rules that mention "monsters of the same type". This could be monster-type though, not clear.

All this was simply to show the confusion in those terms.

Now, in the Darkness Cycle, I always though that AP went up one by active enemy race, but the rule actually says one by Monster-Type. Which means, according to the Glossary, that if Crawlers and Tailess are active, the AP actually goes up by 1, not 2.

What's your take on it? Is it really one by Monster-Type (Classification) or one per race?

General Discussion / Informal update - first shipment
« on: March 06, 2014, 05:13:01 PM »
To anyone not following the KS comments, Mercs just said they'll be receiving the first half of the base sets tomorrow (March 7th) and plan on shipping out the first games on Monday (10th)

Keep the faith!

French Board / Fiche des héros en français
« on: February 21, 2014, 02:08:10 PM »

Rules Discussion / fear / courage checks
« on: January 20, 2014, 07:39:39 AM »
Hi, aside from status effects, I feel like fear or courage checks is the second part of the rules where information is lacking.

The only two references I could find are on page 2 : A stat used by Heroes and Enemies to pass Courage tests. Failure to pass a Courage test results in inactivity.

and page 35 : The courage stat is used when determining whether or not this enemy can overcome fear effects and act.

So far, the only card that says someone has to make a courage test that I've seen is Battle Joy. And it simply says : Requires Monsters to make a Courage test. (the range of the effect seems to depend on the Hero's movement)
This card is a reaction, so you'd play it in the HC, not the DC.

How does this translate into play? You play it any time in your HC, and the next time the monsters activate, if they fail the test, they don't do anything? They can move but not attack? They just can't attack you? Does it affect a single DC, or every DC as long as it's in play?

Rules Discussion / status effects
« on: January 16, 2014, 07:13:17 PM »
I feel like status effects is a part of the game that's not explained enough in the rules. I know we haven't seen all the cards yet, and that some information, such as the duration of effects, will be explained on the cards, but there are situations that could have been explained in the rules :

1. Do status effects apply right away when you receive the attack or whatever else giving you the status?
The most logical answer, to me, is yes, it applies right away.
2. If it applies right away, and lets say you already played 4 cards in front of you. If you receive the frozen status (preventing the useof an action space), what happens? The status only takes effect next cycle?
3. If you're frozen and your last action slot is empty, easy, you can't play other cards. But do you still reduce threat for the empty space?
4. Prone : what we know so far, is if you're prone, you must spend your whole HC standing up, you can't play any cards. If you get proned during a HC (lets say you played a card, and it activates the darkness), do you clear the effect at the end of that HC, or you keep it on for the next one? Basically, does it prevent you from completing your cycle AND playing the next one?
5. Poison : As mentionned earlier, not explained in the rules, will surely be in the FAQ.
6. Possession : Hopefully the power affecting the hero will explain how that works. Do you play cards to attack your teammates? Do you get free attacks?

What do you think about status effects?

Deluxe game storage chests (Agricola, Dominion...), premium acrylic tokens for tons of games, drop-in inserts for card games, and more.

I think they have an insert (model ASB-001) that will fit in the base box of Myth to help sort things around (cards, tiles, player boards, etc) and you can add bit boxes that fit in the lanes to neatly store game tokens, dice, etc. Since I couldn't find the official size of the box, I had to rely on the size of Amerigo (as Brian mentionned they're the same size). If that's correct, their should be minimal lost space out of the storage insert.

You can also find nice storage solution for other games, especially for Agricola, Dominion, Netrunner.

Check it out

Only a few hours to go!

General Discussion / Answers from Mercs
« on: December 24, 2013, 07:55:58 AM »
I'm just wondering if any of you got an answer to a question to Mercs in the last 2 weeks?

I know MythMaster said they were supposed to answer emails yesterday (Dec 23rd), and I know they're really busy with final approval, doing the SF video, etc. , but I asked them a question about a week and a half ago, to know if I could change my address to a US address to get the base game in Febuary, and still no answer.

I'm hoping I can sort this out before first shipping...

Other Games / Pathfinder adventure card game
« on: September 22, 2013, 07:55:28 PM »
If you still haven't seen this new game, it's been released a bit after GenCon this year, and it's basically a RPG-lite card game, with some deck evolution and character evolution.  You get to choose amongst 7 different characters (11 if you buy the character add-on, already available), RPG classics such as a warrior, priest, wizard and rogue.

It's a fully coop game for 1 to 4 (1 to 6 with the character add-on), it's played with cards and dice only, no miniatures, no board.

I've played 4 games so far, and it looks very promising.  We've had a great time with 2, 3 and 5 players.  If you're interested, go havea look on BGG or Paizo (the distributor).

The only downside so far is, it's a bit expensive for cards, especially since they're not top quality.  If you've tried it, what do you think?

French Board / Regles en francais
« on: September 01, 2013, 02:00:46 PM »

General Discussion / next update

All right, so while we wait for the next update, I figured it could be nice to know what we're most excited about knowing next.

French Board / Premier sujet en francais
« on: August 26, 2013, 09:41:38 PM »
Bonjour Mythologistes francophones!
