Its' a while ago I did these, but figured I should update this topic =). Done using pretty much just the Army painter starter set (And some army painter colour primers)

Crawlers!

Santa's Little Orces

The Almighty Yardu (Seriously, I think even if you poured random paints over him he'd come out looking like a badass)

Mercs Recon / Re: Pledge manager is open
« on: August 29, 2014, 04:26:11 PM »
Mercs changed it so shipping costs no extra for the first 2 weeks (I.e. until it opens to the public), I very much approve of the change and it means I got what I wanted for the price I expected it to be =)

Final Tally:
1 * OPFOR Pledge
1 * All-In Mission Pack
1 * Location Mini's
2 * Drone Mini's
2 * Cardstock Doors
1 * Worker Mini's

Indeed its' available...and a shambles it is, in true Mercs style. (Not that I really mind so long as I get my stuff... but...bleh hassle!

I'll just be getting Opfor + All In.

Problem is...I ate the $100 credit for All-In with the pledge upgrade from Agent...and I'm worried that Mercs will charge shipping on the all-in because 'its not part of the original pledge money', ridiculous if so because doing the addin before the pledge would have made the shipping included..but I'm hoping they accommodate the fact ^^.

I was thinking of adding some other stuff, but the Agents of Smersh kickstarter nicked my money as its' totally unavailable in the UK without doing it via KS.

Other Kickstarters (Completed) / Battle Systems: Fantasy Dungeon Terrain

I've been looking forward to this one for a while! Back at the UK Games Expo this year I had the good fortune to be able to see this stuff in the flesh, and it's fantastic, looking both awesome and easy to slot together. I don't really have anything to use it with yet, but hoping to find a way to use it with Myth, or perhaps a role-playing game.

Shipping isn't nice for those outside the UK though =(

Mercs Recon / Re: Now that the is is over

I went here, and boardgamegeek, as always =)

I'll just sit quietly and wait for Myth & Mercs: Recon, I have plenty other games to play in the interim. Rough schedule though:

1) Myth Arrives
2) Myth Heroes Painted
3...) Myth Enemies painted 1 type at a time until...
4) Mercs: Recon Arrives
5) 2-3 Mercs Groups Painted (Based on what people want to play)
6) Back to 3 until done with Myth painting.
7) Mercs Enemies Painted, going from hardest first to easiest last.
8) Omg done! Which means by this time I'll have bought 2-3 other miniatures games...:P

You forgot to factor in the Myth KS expansion launching later this year!  :o

I figured that counts in as part of the 'Myth Enemies Painting' ^^, although yeah any heroes/journeyman heroes in the Myth expansion will have first priority over anything else. Essentially, my order of care is Myth Heroes > Recon Mercs (Just what I want to play) > Myth Enemies > Recon Enemies > Zombicide Miniatures.

@Fade2Gray Haha, probably a 2 year plan just for the 1-7, if we include the step 8 where other miniatures games get involved, then we have a 10 year+ plan ^^.

OPFOR + All-In Mission Packs!

$324 for the following if all stretches are hit:
~160 Miniatures
~70 Tiles/Boards
~55 Player Boards
- The Rest of the Mercs: Recon Stuff (cardboard tokens, dice, etc)
- Mercs: Conflict
- Mercs Tabletop Rulebook
- Mercs Novel
- A Hero, Miniboss, Agent and some Minions for Myth (Inc. in miniatures)
- Lockdown Mode!

Comparatively for $276 on Myth where I got:
~160 Miniatures

- Slaughterfield Mode!

I'm pretty happy at this point, can't wait to see how much further we go with Recon!

General Discussion / Re: Europe/UK release
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:27:44 AM »
It is everything all in one shipment. I don't have the whole story, but it had to do with avoiding multiple taxes/fees/duty charges.

That will be a hefty package when it arrives!

I think the company handling the EU fulfillment wouldn't do multiple shipments, at least not without more money than would have made sense (Which is fair, seeing as we paid a relatively tiny amount compared to normal shipping costs for big projects ^^)

Yeah it's going to be a monster of a box to hold everything we're getting. The base game has a pretty big box & the stretches make for 3-4 times as much content!

It's very good news indeed. I'd be perfectly ok with just having an online FAQ to work out all the key points, but a replacement rulebook will be awesome.

Reprinting the cards with updated text will be great, whether I get them or not depends on what they cost, and how big the changes are. If it turns out to be a sort of 'everything fixed up for $10' deal, then I'd definitely do that just to make the game easier to teach to new players (I don't mind rules ambiguities but I do hate explaining the 'why' of things like card text to over-picky newbies when I'm teaching).

Hope these gestures result in nice boosts to Recon's funding. I think it looks fantastic and well...the more stretch goals the better ;)

Never had that problem with dipping. Are you sure you are wiping/wipping enough of the excess off?
Are the thick patches/drops?
In that case I suggest coming back about an hour after dipping and removing excess with a q-tip.

I normally don't dip my models untill the underside of the base is covered, but you might want to put the upside down or on their sides for a good 48 hours and see if that helps.

Well, I was shaking them hard enough after dipping that my arms been hurting the last 2 days ;) I didn't wipe the bottoms though, so I'll be sure to have some kitchen role on the side to clean them off straight away for future ones. They didn't seem particularly thick/drop-like patches, but I'll have to look when I'm home this evening. I don't know what a q-tip is but if wiping them off doesn't work I'll look into that ^^.

Covered with what? =P I had them on their sides for a day & a half and still had the problem, which is what confuses me a little as the rest of it dried in that time easily, maybe it'll fix itself given a few extra days - a week.

You could also go back and add a coat of regular paint to the bottom, just so that it covers the stickiness of the dip.

Seems a good plan, I'll go with that if a little extra time doesn't work ^^.

Thanks guys =) I'll get some photo's of my horrific paint jobs at some point for your viewing pleasure in thanks for the comments  ;)

Kicktraq chart hyperlinked and linkified to the actual project.

Thankyou =) I meant to do that on Tuesday but was feeling pretty tired/irritable and just didn't do it, so much appreciated you've done it for me! ^^.

Painting / Smoothsmith vs Painting
« on: April 02, 2014, 03:56:04 AM »
Well, I don't have any images, and won't get Myth for months, but I wanted to ask a question to do with painting..

So I have some painted Zombicide mini's, and I decided to give the 'dip' method thing a try with army painter quickshade (strong). The mini's have come out looking pretty cool (Though I think for Myth I'll be applying it by brush ^^) but some bits (In particular the underside of some of the bases) have ended up being 'sticky' and don't seem to be drying any-time soon. This is a bit of a pain as I don't really want them to stick to the board and make a mess of that!

Any suggestions on clearing the excess off the bottoms without messing up the rest of the work done?

A special edition of the upcoming Coup expansion. Bluff, bribe and manipulate to be the last one standing.

Just the Expansion: $15 (US)/$20 (Canada)/$23 (International..Almost)/$29 (Brazil, Argentina, Russia)
Coup + Expansion: $30 (US)/$35 (Canada)/$42 (International..Almost)/$50 (Brazil, Argentina, Russia)

I've been wanting to pick this up for a while, very fun game so thought I'd share ^^.

That sounds awesome to me ^^. Reminds me of those moments in certain films where the good guy strikes a heroic blow and the fight looks over...right before the bad guy just pushes the blade in further and laughs before relaunching his assault and making the hero work out a more creative way around the situation =)

I was finding it difficult to appreciate peoples answers and started um...organizing. I feel like I'm really weird right now..

Not finished, but if people want to fill in their answers themselves feel free! Hope I represented peoples answers properly...cut some short to avoid long lines/too much wrapping.

Love to! Great Idea!

Myth
1) Nope, I'm in the UK in the 'Sad Internationals Society' =P
2) Nope
3) Some are.
4) No preference..ALL OF THEM.
5) Yes, I think I'm going to rule that we can only fight painted foes, so I only have to do a few initially but get motivation to paint the rest as I go!
6) Probably, I love doing custom things with games.
7) Oh god yes! All my wallet is belong to Myth.

Recon
8] Yes! I wasn't at first but someone related it to Counter Strike & now that I see that as a link I'm really excited for it ^^.
9) No, I mean I'm struggling to pay, but this'll give me a chance to sort out my cash flow before Myth's expansion(s), if they were closer I'd be scuppered.
10) *Squirms* Um...Science Fantasy? =P
11) Sort of, but I've poured hundreds and hundreds of hours into Counter Strike when I was younger, much of it on cs_office, so I think it's cooler than some realise.
12) Glad they're catering to people only interested in the Myth content, but I think they should all Agent up ^^.

General
13) Anything deeply integrated with theme really. Last year I'd have said fantasy/sci-fi, but Viticulture has proven to me that it's just the theme/mechanics link that I care for.
14) A few I guess, main one is 13-20 at a group every Wednesday.
15) 90/10 I guess, but I'm happy playing both, it's just that there's more social opportunities with board games.
16) I like making game variants, not really good at drawing or suchlike though.
17) It's at the epicentre of where my friends are, with everyone within 30-40 minutes drive (Yay Birmingham).
18) Eat what you want, so long as it doesn't smell and you don't mess up my game. Never had to enforce anything.
19) Loads, but on the fly lets go with 'Stargate'/'Back-To-The-Future'/'Commonwealth Saga (Peter F Hamilton)' << Alright maybe Sci-fi has the edge...
20) I feel like shite but the days going fine aside from the evil virus/bacteria assaulting me ^^.
