Duncan's Trickster Pledge Mini-Boss
« on: April 25, 2013, 10:44:14 PM »
I have previously collected what little information we have on this subject from Duncan's comments and figured that I would post it here for all to see without having to go through 18k+ comments.

Quote
@Anthony: I revealed last night that the mini-boss' name will be "Donnchadh Dochartaigh", so if you'ld rather sub that in for the placeholder, be my guest.

@Auctorium: It's my name, in it's original Irish-Gaelic form

@Soldier: clues, eh? I don't know how much I want to give up just yet. I suppose it's safe to say that either way I go, swords will be involved, and I will be going the likeness route. What I'm most curious about is if Mercs would let me do quest tie-ins or not, because that is mostly what will affect my decision as I have some ideas I was writing out on break at work tonight.

@Jeff: Strangely enough, one of the sketches I was doing of myself in various outfits/poses came out looking very much like Ramirez from Highlander. I don't think that's the one I'll go with, but pending on my eventual conversation with Mercs, you never know.

Okay, I think some folks misunderstood. Just to be clear, he won't be wearing a kilt, and won't be a "braveheart" type guy. Though one of the sketches I was working on tonight utilized a fly plaid...I need to give that some thought. So far the only thing standout "Irish" is his name. Sorry for the confusion.

This is all that he has currently said on the subject not counting a few posts that are basically identical to ones shown here.
If my text is Red and I am not talking about SLAUGHTERFIELD! then I am posting as a Moderator.

If my text is normal then I am posting as myself.

Thank you  "The Wyzard" over at RPG.Net for this great idea.

"As the pyre soared high and the dirge played on, we all recall the sacrifice his wallet made for the good of the many. May we all raise a root beer toast and recount this day as the day a valiant wallet gave it's life so that we all could rejoice in the fruits of Duncan's vision through Keith's work till the day we meet our pyre's."

Thanks for the compilation Auctorium.

Can't wait to see what we are getting.

Also, would love to know what the chances of getting another orange item in game would be out of this. Push for it Duncan.

Sounds like another cool character is coming our way! Though I wish they would make them Heroes.

I thought he said he wasn't going to get the Trickster? And that the Trickster was confirmed to be Kingdom Death?

Heroes would be cool instead of mini bosses. Hard though for mercs trying to get them well balanced I guess. A mini boss wouldn't need to be as balanced rules wise as a hero I guess because its play time is much shorter.
I hope it's a big fomorian giant, but whatever it is I'm sure it will be cool

I was hoping for more mini-bosses since it sounded like they could appear more than full bosses and for a point bosses outnumbered mini-bosses. Also logistically it makes sense since they want to make each hero expandable, with a human mini-boss you can always just use it to replace another mini in an existing class.

True you could but these could be special Heroes who don't grow they are already special enough with out that happening down the line.

I'm hoping Duncan the miniboss (as I know think of it) will have an orange item drop like a Highlander's Claymore.

I am so proud of being a member of this community.  Thank the stars for happy accidents!

Anyway folks, it's me, your resident Trickster level pledger Duncan D.  Very happy someone put up a site with forums so we don't have to slog though all of those comments on the KS anymore, though I'll still be checking up/popping in on occasion there too.

Time to do some replies:
@Auctorium: Many thanks for digging those out and compiling them.  Now I hopefully won't have to re-answer the same questions multiple times.  Not that I mind, but this makes less work.

@Lucerian: What a wonderful little bit of prose :).  Thank you!  Nice to see people mentioning my love of root beer too.

@Soldier: I can't wait either.  Still waiting for Mercs to sift through the end of KS message mountain and find mine in there.  I've actually considered that very notion (about the orange treasure), and it's going to tie in to whether or not I get to help design a little branching chapter quest I have in mind.  I'm feeling pretty decent tonight (despite just getting home after another 12-hour day) so I'm going to give you folks another nugget/teaser.  The item in question, if everything goes more or less my way, is Claiomh Solais, the Sword of Light, which will only be obtainable down one of the branching paths the quest may take, and only if a certain condition is met.
Like I told the Mercs guys, I have some very big ideas, and I hope I get to implement them.

@Pride: I plan on using the Twilight Knight figrue as a female Soldier (I absolutely detest the base game male Soldier, he looks like Ace Ventura with a sword...note that he is the only revealed figure/art I don't like), and I imagine some folks my sub mine in a role as well, since he too shall be hero sized (hopefully).  Although if they let me do aforementioned chapter quest(s), you may just be able to snag him as an ally...

@FeelNFine: I actually snagged the Trickster level when there was only one to snag.  They must have added the second one afterwards specially for KD...I'm guessing they didn't think anyone was actually going to go for it with two days left, or they were going to add the second one for them all along.  Either way, we're all getting two trickster level mini-bosses, so it's all good :D.

@WunupKid: See my response to SoldierofFortune.
Ask me about Loom.

@Cyan_of_Doma I will probably use her in the capacity you suggest but I am a huge KD fan and it would be very cool to see some of that bleed over to being a totally playable Hero and I like the sound of the ideas you have and I think it would also be cool that if at the end of the boss battle you can add them to your party.

Sounds cool. I want to know more... More... MORE! Is it something to do with Fianna? Just taking stabs in the dark here.

Great, now I'm never going to be able to look at the male soldier and not think "Ace Ventura with a sword". Damn you, Duncan!  :P
