Challenge Titles / Quests
« on: February 05, 2014, 05:00:46 PM »
This is up for some balance discussion, as each of the Story quests that give you titles appear to be universally three acts long.

I would like to see some challenge titles, titles that come not from specific quests or stories, but from accomplishing epic feats within a single act.

Something like 'orcslayer' for killing 200 Grubbers in a single act.

This way you could balance your realm tile choices by what you need to continue pursuing the goal, but still be shooting for something.

Make 'em up!  I'll print them out.  The beauty of this game is that they've given us the tools to do pretty much whatever "challenge tasks" we want!
Don't listen to anything I say.  I'm still a n00b.

I'd want to get a few games under my belt to figure out what was balanced :)  IMHO, they should be much weaker than the normal titles... Something like 'start with an extra white draw' rather than keeping an item AND a combat bonus.

Using your example, an "Orcslayer" title would suggest you're pretty good at it.  How about adding +1d10/ Fate Die when attacking orcs?

that seems like a simple "favored enemy" type of skill,... and it not overpowered (I don't think).

the alternative would be -1 TN when targeting Tribal enemies.

Or that since you've slained so many, they're afraid of you, so they have to pass a courage check or else they get +2TN to hit you...
